Meanwhile, (about 50 feet away), Ian and Barbara are making their way back to the villa...

I love the vibrancy of color you have in this picture. Plus the great outfit the Doctor's got on. It adds to the Time Lord-y feel.

I've always really liked this story ever since that day back in 1998 when I saw it on UK Gold!

Thanks for putting this up as I just love 'The Romans' every last bit of it!!!

In perticuler I like the interplay between the Doctor and Vicki as it always makes me feel nice and warm inside.

However I was lately watching it on DVD and when I got to this part something sprang to mind...

Isn't it a bit heartless of them to gape at at such a tragic event?

I mean if the Doctor and Vicki turned up at 9/11 (don't forget that for her that would be history) and they gaped at that like sight seers they would be a massive load of complants from angered viewers!!!!

Just a thought...

It probably has something to do with the fact that when the show visited that historical events 2001 years after it happened, for the viewers. If some show does a historical episode where time travellers visit 9/11 in 4002 AD, I doubt they'll get many complaints.
